Air Canada, the world’s biggest carrier, has had a remarkable 85 years of success, starting with the first flights in 1938 to Toronto, and continuing with international flights in 1989.

Air Canada was founded on an Alberta day on March 10, 1937, with its very early flights only taking place four months after the founding of the company. Air Canada pioneered the multi-channel flight recorder, a technology that is now used by airlines worldwide.

Air Canada was the first airline to implement the multi- channel flight recorder, known as the “black box”, which is now used by most airlines. Air Canada was also one of the very few Canadian airlines to offer customers special fares when they booked on its website. In 2009, the company also released a series of apps that allowed passengers to book their flights and enjoy these fares online.

Air Canada has had many firsts over the past 85 years. Air Canada regularly receives recognition for its diversity, inclusion and equality policies. It is also determined to keep our environment clean by helping to maintain the shorelines that surround our airports.

Air Canada’s ongoing fleet modernisation program began in 2007 and the airline has been adding next-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft with industry leading customer amenities. Air Canada’s long-haul workhorse plane is currently the ultra-efficacious Boeing 747 Dreamliner, with fuel efficiency up to 20% over the aircraft it replaces. The Airbus A220-300 (formerly known as the Bombardier C Series) and 737 MAX 8 aircraft feature product specifications and in-flight entertainment similar to the 787 Dreamliner. Airbus A220 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft use as little fuel as possible and emit as little CO2 and as little nitrogen oxides as the older aircraft.

When you are planning to buy a ticket, there is a time that you should wait until after you book your plane. If you’re flying into Canada from the United States, it is wise to book your tickets at least three months in advance, preferably 30 days in advance. Plan well in advance and buy tickets at least five and a half weeks before the travel date.

But flights booked on holidays, such as Christmas or New Year, or when schools are out of session are going to be a lot less popular. If you canceled your flight at the last minute, you could save a small amount of money by buying your tickets as far ahead as you can.

If you decide to save money when you buy your tickets or book your flight, keep in mind that other unexpected costs could easily wipe out your savings.

If your booking was made via Air Canada, you can cancel it online by going to My Bookings and reading the instructions.

You can still book your flight by contacting Air Canada Reservations.

You can book a flight on Air Canada’s website or via the Air Canada app on your phone.

If that is the case, we will refund your money. If that is not possible, we will cancel the flight and refund the airfare that was paid.

You may cancel all of your Air Canada flights by calling 1-888-289-2267 or by going to the aircanada.com/flights. You can also cancel your booking by going to My Bookings and clicking on the “Cancel” button.

You wish to cancel your flight at the same time that you purchased the ticket (typically, within 24 hours) and receive a refund for the amount you paid.

You are canceling your flight entirely. You are canceling your flight with a partner airline.

If there is a reason you have changed the date, time, or even the flight itself, we will refund the amount you paid.

Refundability up to 24 hours after purchase.

If for any reason you cannot fulfill the travel dates that you purchased, we can either return the amount paid or just stop selling tickets. If you cancel within 24 hours of your reservation, it may be possible for you to receive a full refund if the fare type you bought was not included.
